As a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor I am able to diagnose mental health disorders and provide trauma informed care that is backed in science. Depression, anxiety, and trauma are some of the most common disorders that disrupt our daily lives. However; I can and do provide counseling for other mental health disorders. When there are impairments in our relationships with others or ourselves, difficulties functioning in the community or in maintaining the tasks of life it is crucial we seek out the help we need in order to heal. Living with a mental health disorder can alter one's self awareness and impact those closest to us. Prolonged or chronic mental health issues result in a deterioration of the life experience and rob a person of living out their full potential. Initiating the process of becoming healthier through counseling and psychotherapy is never easy and every person is unique and therefore requires a person-centered plan of care.
New life comes with an array of differing emotions and is not without hardship. Mental health support is beneficial during and after pregnancy. If there is a history of individual or family mental health illness, there is a history of trauma or if the birth process was traumatic you are more at risk of developing depression and/or anxiety. These mental health disorders can occur during pregnancy (antepartum) and after pregnancy (postpartum) and can affect either parent. If left untreated symptoms can cause difficulties connecting with your significant other, your newborn child, and can have a negative impact on other children within the family.
Not everyone in counseling necessitates a formal diagnosis or meets criteria for a diagnosis. Let's be real- life is full of stressors and no one is immune to experiencing hardships in life. Counseling is helpful in maintaining good mental health proactively and navigating life events that require support. Seeing a counselor for guidance is becoming more accepted by our society and is a great way to dig deep and discover our true desires. Making decisions that are in line with our authenticity can be difficult if we are still learning who we are. Perhaps the support you are longing for is not readily accessible from others. As a counselor, my aim is to help you get to know, trust, and love yourself so that making decisions and progress forward is quicker and easier.
Families come in all different shapes, sizes and colors. And families create their own culture. It's natural to have conflict, grief, or change impact a family. Life events can affect family members differently and may even disrupt healthy family connection. As much as it is cliche' there is no instruction manual that covers every aspect of family life. Whether it's getting on the same page with parenting styles, creating and maintaining healthy parent-child boundaries, knowing how to support a loved one, repairing relationships disconnected by trauma, or adjusting to change; counseling can be an effective strategy. Helping a family mend and achieve a state of healthy takes effort from each member. I'm here to assist you and your family in navigating your way to health.
All services are provided via Telehealth. Confidential and ethical standards and procedures are in place to ensure a safe and healing experience while utilizing video calls to connect during session.
I provide individual and family therapy services for children and adults ages 10 years and older.
This is your life. You set the pace. And the amount of effort put forth to achieve a state of health that allows you to live joyfully is determined by you. I help you assess for issues that get in the way of living a healthy life and support you in creating long and short term goals that set you up to manage the identified stressors. Then we work towards those goals using evidence based practices that are ethical and centered around you. I recommend a session frequency; however, I cannot control whether you attend, force you to participate, or make sure you practice learned strategies outside of session.
Please know that therapy does not end when the session ends. You will continue to think, reflect, and gain understanding outside of session. And sometimes the use of learned strategies happens later in life when we are finally ready and willing to use to them.
